It is said that the greatest sacrifice one can make is to lay down one's life for a friend.  Everyday, men and women lay down their lives to protect the innocent and the weak.  As great and terrible as that sacrifice is, it is but a moment.  A sacrifice just as great and, in it's own right, even more difficult to bear is the one the families make back home.  This little boy will not grow up knowing what it is like to play catch with his dad.  Someone else will have to teach him to drive a stick shift, teach him how to shave, and teach him to tie his tie as he shakily gets ready for the "big date."  This little man has suddenly become the "man" of the house with a responsibility that these tiny shoulders should not have to bear.  The Cost of Freedom isn't measured in the blood that is spilt or the lives that are lost, it is measured in the moments and the memories that will never happen.  Let us never forget the sons and daughters of the valiant warriors who, with tiny voices, cry "Miss You Daddy."
